Soccer. Adidas will replace Nike as Liverpool’s kit supplier

Thunderbolt in the duel between Nike and Adidas. The sponsorship war between German and American equipment manufacturers just continues. Liverpool formalizes new agreement with Adidas, according to SportsBusiness .

A five-season contract

After the tender, Adidas would have been selected for five seasons, starting in 2025-2026 and lasting until 2029-2030. A major marketing coup that brings the duo back together after a 13-year hiatus. The Merseyside club and Adidas were partners from 1985 to 1996, then between 2006 and 2012 with legends Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres.

Nike has been Liverpool’s kit supplier since the 2020-2021 season. The American giant only pays an amount of 30 million pounds sterling (34.8 million euros) per season, a relatively small sum compared to the contract of 900 million with Adidas and Manchester United for ten seasons.

The Mancunian club, Liverpool’s great rival, renewed its agreement with Adidas in July 2023 until 2035. The German equipment manufacturer recently signed a contract with Liverpool and England star Trent Alexander-Arnold. Adidas also has a long-term deal with Arsenal, Fulham and Nottingham Forest, and wants Aston Villa and Newcastle United next season. A large panel to compete with Nike in the Premier League, which equips Chelsea, Tottenham, Brighton and thus Liverpool.
