Defeated Yojerlin César in the semifinals of the European Olympic Boxing Championship

Yojerlin César was beaten on points 5 judges to 0 by Croatian Gabrijel Veocic in the -80 kg semi-final at the European Olympic Boxing Championships (exam boxing, three rounds of three minutes), on Thursday night in Belgrade (Serbia).

The two men had a somewhat similar style, boxed almost in profile, very mobile, worked with a single punch and tended to throw themselves, hence the clashes. More experienced, the Croatian (age 22), silver medalist at the European Games last July and therefore qualified for the Paris 2024 Games, struck more and secured victory by winning the first two rounds. Only in the third did the two opponents break free and give sequences.

César (19 years old), European under-22 champion last November, will try to win his place for Paris 2024 during the last Olympic qualification tournament, at the end of May in Bangkok (Thailand).
