The Giro is fast approaching. This Thursday, April 25, Ineos Grenadiers announced the composition of their team for the first Grand Tour of the cycling season (May 4 to 26). As last year, the British team is once again relying on Geraint Thomas for the general classification.
The former winner of the 2018 Tour de France finished 2nde just 14 seconds behind Primoz Roglic in 2023, having worn the pink jersey for eight days until the 19th.e stage, a time trial arriving at Monte Lussari which he had failed.
Foss and Arensman as lieutenants
At the age of 37, Geraint Thomas has once again made the Giro the first major goal of the year. His close guard is very well made: Norwegian Tobias Foss (26 years old) and Dutchman Thymen Arensman (24 years old), 6e of the general in 2023, will be his main lieutenants in the mountains.

On a country he knows well, the Italian Filippo Ganna (27) was also selected and will be keen to shine both times. Ecuadorian champion Jhonatan Narvaez (27 years old), American Magnus Sheffield (22 years old), Briton Ben Swift (36 years old) and Connor Swift (28 years old) complete the Ineos Grenadiers team.
