Latifa Akharbach welcomes the relevance and intelligence of the decision – Danas Morocco

The High Authority for Audiovisual Communications (HACA) welcomes the relevance and inclusiveness of the UN resolution on artificial intelligence jointly launched by Morocco and the United States.

Speaking at the opening of the international conference organized in Abidjan, Latifa Akharbach, president of HACA, considered that it is necessary to raise the question of artificial intelligence not in terms of limiting its use, but in terms of controlling this use and in terms of expanding access to the possibilities that this technology offers in terms of of the total development of countries. In this regard, she stated: “It is necessary to note the relevance and inclusiveness of the first UN resolution on artificial intelligence adopted by consensus on March 21, 2024, at the joint initiative of Morocco and the United States.”

This resolution has the advantage of emphasizing the need to adopt appropriate approaches to the governance of artificial intelligence, which are based on international law, inclusive and adapted to the different needs and capacities of developed and developing countries. The HACA president also called for a harmonized global approach to the regulation of global digital platforms. According to the manager, this is “the only way to guarantee not only a safe digital environment for everyone, but also an open, fluid and fair digital market. For the African continent more than for other regions of the world, this last question is crucial.”
