Samsung would delay the release of a major Galaxy S24 Ultra photo update

The Galaxy S24 Ultra photo update has been delayed. Don’t expect this until the end of the season.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

We’ve all been waiting for the second Galaxy S24 Ultra photo update for April. You have to admit it: it’s already April 25th and there’s nothing on the horizon. And it is not the author of the Ice Universe information who is going to contradict us, quite the opposite.

In fact, he claims that this famous update was ultimately delayed by several months. According to his information, this should be expected no earlier than June next year. And it’s complicated, but the argument works in its favor since Samsung usually releases a photo update in June.

This was the case with the 2022 Galaxy S22 with sharpness and contrast corrections, as well as last year’s Galaxy S23, which notably received 2x zoom in portrait mode and improved HDR processing.

What improvements should we expect?

And HDR is one aspect that doesn’t work on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. His activities in this area are very random. Be careful, I’m not saying the S24 Ultra’s photography leaves much to be desired. It’s quite the opposite. We rated it quite highly in our test, especially for its zoom control, which is better digitally than the S23 Ultra’s optics…

But given the asking price (1,469 euros!), we have the right to be picky. Samsung has already fixed the issue of too dark photos that occurs when auto exposure is locked between 1.6-1.9x and 4.6-9.9x zoom.

In early April, Ice Universe said the next photo update for the Galaxy S24 Ultra would fix telephoto image quality, white balance accuracy, and “abnormal red color”.

The latest One UI 6.1 photo update was rolled out to the new S lineup earlier this month. S24, S24 Plus and S24 Ultra are affected. The focus is on four areas of improvement:

  • Better white balance and exposure accuracy,
  • Improved image quality in low light,
  • More accurate colorimetry in the ExpertRAW application,
  • Clearer text on highly enlarged photos.
