Moroccan investment and export promotion brand ‘Morocco Now’ was the center of attention in Munich on Wednesday during a conference organized by the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency (AMDIE) on the theme ‘Creating synergies for sustainable partnerships’.

This event, part of the economic roadshow from Morocco to Germany led by Mohcine Jazouli, the Minister Delegate in charge of Investments, Convergence and Public Policy Review, was an opportunity for AMDIE to highlight Morocco’s progress and the competitive advantages that the country offers to emphasize. encourage foreign investment and boost exports.

The “Morocco Now” conference, marked by the presence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Federal Republic of Germany, Zohour Alaoui, and the Deputy Director General of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection, Ursula Borak, is part of Morocco’s continued international efforts aimed at strengthening foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Kingdom.

On this occasion, the Director General of AMDIE, Ali Seddiki, presented Morocco as a world-class hub for sustainable investment and trade, highlighting the stability of its environment, its quality infrastructure and the global markets it hosts, quick access to a market of 2.5 billion consumers.

It also highlighted the youthfulness of its human capital, its leadership in the energy transition and investment opportunities in key sectors such as automotive, aviation and hydrogen.

Furthermore, Mr. Seddiki indicated that concrete projects are already in development and promising partnerships have been established with German companies, illustrating the concrete and immediate impact of the Roadshow initiative in strengthening economic relations between Morocco and Germany.

For her part, Ms. Borak highlighted the success of the Moroccan Economic Roadshow, which visited several emblematic cities such as Berlin, Wolfsburg, Hannover and Munich, and confirmed that Morocco is an important economic partner for Germany in the field of commercial exchanges.

In this regard, she specified that last year this trade amounted to almost 6 billion euros, making Germany the eighth export market and the seventh import market for Morocco. This shows the strengthening of commercial ties between the two countries in a variety of products, the German official added. Ms. Borak also noted that German investments in Morocco, especially in key sectors such as the automotive industry, reflect the mutual trust between the two nations. And to ensure his ministry’s continued support for export and investment initiatives aimed at consolidating economic and commercial ties between Germany and Morocco.

Moreover, she emphasized the joint commitment in strategic areas such as energy transition and hydrogen cooperation, opening new perspectives for cooperation in green technologies between the two countries. For his part, the Vice President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), Mehdi Tazi, highlighted the significant progress in several key areas in Morocco, especially infrastructure, the qualification of human resources and the development of strategic sectors such as automobiles and aviation. This progress, including the development of the green hydrogen sector, has highlighted the robustness of the Moroccan economic ecosystem, he added, noting the importance that European players, especially German ones, attach to this emerging theme.

Mr Tazi also said he was confident that this progress will encourage German companies to invest in Morocco, while expressing hope that Moroccan companies will also seize investment opportunities in Europe.

He also emphasized the CGEM’s commitment to German businessmen and affirmed that the private organization plays a crucial role in promoting Morocco on the international stage. As a private operator, CGEM offers a unique perspective, fostering close ties with German private operators, based on a common vision and shared private sector expertise.

For his part, the Director General of Investment and Business Environment at the Ministry, Ghali Skalli, presented the Kingdom’s assets to German investors, in particular the competitiveness of its industrial ecosystems, the quality of its human capital, its decarbonization potential, as well as the continuous improvement of the business environment.

“Morocco represents a reliable, competitive and stable platform with a highly qualified workforce for attracting German investments to the Kingdom,” Mr Skalli added.

He also believed that relations between Morocco and Germany could be further strengthened, even though they are excellent. Mr Skalli then invited German operators to take advantage of this momentum and take advantage of the numerous investment opportunities in the Kingdom.

The choice of Munich as the location for this conference, which brought together more than 200 participants among German and Moroccan businessmen from Germany, can, according to the organizers, be explained by its status as the capital of Bavaria and its central role in the German economy. .

After Spain at the end of January, the 2024 tour to promote the destination of Morocco to foreign investors and clients continued in Germany as part of a Roadshow organized by AMDIE from April 22 to 25, in collaboration with the Moroccan Embassy in Germany.

This Roadshow takes place in a particular context marked by the launch of the ‘Morocco Offer’ and the realization of several strategic investment agreements in the electric battery sector aimed at the emergence of a national green automotive ecosystem, which could be consolidated with leading German operators.

The tour featured meetings with German decision-makers, investors and institutional representatives, as well as visits to sites of the largest German industrial companies in the field of electrical, electronic technologies and industrial automation.
