This volcano spews out several thousand euros of gold per day

Lost in the icy immensity of the South Pole, Mount Erebus is one of the 138 volcanoes that make up the Antarctic landscape. Located more precisely on Ross Island, it was discovered in 1841 by Captain James Clark Ross, a British naval officer and polar explorer.

Its crater, located at an altitude of 3794 meters, may contain many treasures. The volcano tends to emit “volcanic bombs” and gas containing small crystals of gold. Scientists estimate that the volcano spews about 80 grams of gold per day, which is equivalent to 5,592 euros. Traces of these crystals were discovered hundreds of kilometers from Mount Erebus.
