“What annoys some people is that they have no control over the arbitration”

“They don’t calculate me, for them I don’t exist,” he declared, pointing out the lack of regard for certain club presidents. “I have not received any calls from Pablo Longoria, nor from Jean-Pierre Rivère. In general, presidents do not call me Caillot, Comolli, Létang… They do not calculate me, for them I have not been president of the CFA for twelve years, they still haven’t understood that the head of arbitration is me.”

Borghini emphasizes here that certain club managers, according to him, have recently realized that their influence on arbitration was limited, especially after the dismissal of Stéphane Lannoy, former technical director of arbitration who was dismissed in March last year and reputed to be very close to the leaders of clubs. “We broke their toy,” Borghini jokes. “What annoys some people is that they have no control over the refereeing. There is a crisis of hysteria among certain clubs. There are no more refereeing errors today than before, the statistics prove it.”
