Alison Jackson takes the second stage of the Vuelta, Blanka Vas in red

After an incredible finish, Canadian Alison Jackson (EF Education-Cannondale) won the sprint during the second stage of the Vuelta, 118 kilometers long. Hungarian Blanka Vas (Team SD Worx – Protime) took the overall lead after his second place.

Jackson was able to capitalize on a chaotic ending to the scene. Three kilometers from the finish line, a first fall, in a section made slick by the rain, split the peloton in two. In the process, six riders at the head of the peloton made mistakes and at the same time deprived three-time world champion Marianne Vos (Team Visma – Lease a Bike) of a final sprint. Led by her team, Jackson managed to catch up less than a kilometer from the finish to sign the tenth victory of her career.

The first French woman, Juliette Labous (dsm-firmenich PostNL), finished 15th.
