Poland, led by world No. 1 Iga Swiatek in qualifying, will face host Spain in the round of 16 of the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup (Nov. 12-20), according to the draw made Tuesday at the headquarters of the International Tennis Federation ( ITF). Japan, who had been able to rely on former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka in qualifying, will face Romania.
Four rounds of 16 will decide the nations that will join the four teams directly qualified for the quarter-finals (Canada as the 2023 winner, Italy as the 2023 finalist, Australia and the Czech Republic).
This final phase of the BJK Cup will be played from 12 to 20 November in Seville. The round of 16 is set for November 12-14, the quarter-finals November 15-17, the semi-finals November 18 and 19 and the final November 20.
