“We make history”, the French Challenge Orient Express Racing Team settles in Lorient,

The installation of the future base of the French Orient Express Challenge will take place in the Péristyle district of Lorient. As the teams prepare from Barcelona for the 37th edition of the America’s Cup, the French are already positioning themselves for the next one.

“It’s pretty rare moments like this when we make history.” Fabrice Loher, president of Lorient Agglomération, does not shy away from his joy at this great announcement: the new home base of the French Challenge team Orient Express Racing Team will be in Lorient.

The official announcement was made on 30 April 2024 from the city of 7 ports. The French will not settle at the base, stronghold of ocean racing, but in the Péristyle district, opposite the town hall.

Work is underway to build a new pontoon. Perhaps the new location of the French challenge teams.

The Orient Express Racing Team is supported by two men united and associated with the company K-Challenge, Stephan Kandler and Bruno Dubois. In this adventure they are surrounded by many talents such as Antoine Carraz, technical director and Franck Cammas, performance director. Quentin Delapierre will be at the helm of the brand new AC75 that will sail during the cup.

The 37th edition of the America’s Cup starts on 22 August. The French teams are already in Barcelona to prepare. On April 6, the AC75 arrived in Barcelona undercover to ensure that no information was leaked about the technical and technological details of the boat.

Three French teams are participating in this 37th edition of the America’s Cup. In addition to team 1, there is a women’s team and a youth team.
