the springboard of Chaux-Neuve will host a stage of the World Cup in the summer of 2024

In Haut-Doubs, the ski jump that has seen Fabrice Guy and Jason Lamy-Chpuis shine for decades will return to a major international event on 30 and 31 August 2024.

A summer WC, certainly less prestigious than the winter big sister. But there is good news for Haut-Doub’s springboard and ASNI (Association of the International Nordic Site of Jura), the association that manages the site and gathers the volunteers.

The International Ski Federation (FIS) has entrusted Chaux-Neuve with the organization of the last stage of this summer’s World Cup. At the end of August, the world’s best Nordic combined head to Val de Mouthe. “We would have about thirty girls, about forty men. We can count on the presence of Germany, Austria, Norway. We hope for the Japanese” entrusts Stéphane Invernizzi, head of ASNI.

This will be the first time that Haut-Doub’s ski jumping hill organizes a Nordic combined World Cup stage in the summer. In January 2024, the winter version of the World Cup could not be held due to a lack of snow.

Stéphane Invernizzi is aware of this. The stepping stones to the Côte Feuillée area need visibility, notoriety and attendance. Nordic combined is a small discipline at world level, little publicized, a discipline in decline that may eventually disappear from international event calendars, or even from the Olympic Games.

In Chaux-Neuve, the challenge is launched. To organize this summer’s world championship, it will be necessary to raise a budget of 106,000 euros. Accommodation, prizes for the winners, organisation…security, everything will be the association’s responsibility, well helped by community grants and sponsors who must gather.

A special Show Jumping World Cup in 2026 with Joséphine Pagnier?

Chaux-Neuve wants to relaunch itself with this summer’s world championships. And who knows, think even bigger by hosting a stage of the World Special Jumping Championships in the winter of 2026 where local native Joséphine Pagnier has made a name for herself in recent seasons. This will allow this Olympic year 2026 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of ASNI with fanfare.

In addition to sporting events, the springboard wants to focus on tourism development and attract other teams to training. By 2023, an average of 40 jumps were made per day on the ski jumps in Chaux-Neuve, where the youngest continue to follow in the footsteps of Fabrice Guy, crowned Olympic champion at the 1992 Albertville Olympics, and Jason Lamy-Chpuis, gold medalist in Vancouver in 2010 .
