In 2023, 49 cases of arbovirus, a viral disease spread by tiger mosquitoes, were reported throughout Burgundy Franche-Comté, resulting in 12 patients being treated. There were two treatments in Mâcon in 2022, and only one in Beaune in 2021 for the entire region. For 2024, over the past five months, 70 cases of dengue, zika or chikungunya have already been reported in the region.
Growing numbers
Figures that are consistent with the national trend of a very strong increase in the number of reported dengue cases: 1679 from 1uh from January to the end of April 2024, compared to 131 for the same period in 2023.
Network of nest traps
The regional health agency (ARS Bourgogne Franche-Comté) carries out surveillance in eight departments of the region through a network of nest traps, mainly in the most densely populated urban units, in a situation where the number of colonized municipalities in the region has more than doubled. from less than 60 to almost 125.
ARS urges citizens to be vigilant and actively monitor for tiger mosquitoes and report them on a special online portal (signalement-moustique.anses.fr).
