Banjul – A documentary on the 50th anniversary of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) focusing specifically on the role of the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, was screened during the 15th session of the OIC Islamic Community. The summit of the conference, which takes place from 4 to 5 May in the capital of Gambia, Banjul.

The film returns to the creation of the OIC in September 1969 during the Rabat Summit, following the burning of the Al Aqsa Mosque in Al-Quds, Islam’s third holiest site, emphasizing the ambition of its 57 member states to protect and safeguard the interests of the Muslim world while promoting global peace and harmony.

The documentary thus provides an overview of the Organization and its main bodies, as well as its most prominent missions and actions in favor of peace and security, the Palestinian cause and the holy city of Al-Quds, poverty reduction and the fight against terrorism.

The film includes images of the historic speech given by the late HM King Hassan II in which the late Sovereign announced the creation of the Organization which represents a turning point in the history of the Islamic world and the strengthening of joint Islamic action.

It also reviews the actions and achievements of the committees under the OIC, particularly the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, with a focus on the initiatives achieved by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, its contribution and ongoing efforts to protect the Holy City and support the resistance Makdesija.

The documentary also includes excerpts from the speech delivered by H.M. King Muhammad VI, during the 20th session of the Al-Quds Committee, held on January 17, 2014 in Marrakesh, in which the sovereign confirmed that the Presidency of the Al-Quds Committee is neither a favor nor a privilege, but rather a great burden and a great responsibility before God and before history.

“That is why we continue to dedicate our efforts, in consultation with our brothers and our partners, to the defense of the Arab-Islamic character of Al Quds, and to the preservation of its civilizational identity as the cradle of heaven and a symbol of peace and coexistence among cultures,” said His Majesty the King at the opening of this sessions.

Please note that the Bay Mal Al Quds Acharif Agency, which corresponds to the Al Quds Committee, organizes exhibitions of products of Palestinian origin, on the sidelines of the work of the 15th session of the Islamic Conference at the Banjul Summit.

The Agency also exhibits archival photos of the previous meetings of the Al-Quds Committee, as well as the work report for the year 2023, the report on the evaluation of the silver jubilee celebration of the Agency under the high patronage of His Highness. V. King Mohammed VI, as well as a photo album about the operation to deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in Al Quds and Gaza during the month of Ramadan, ordered by His Majesty the King.
