“International tourist arrivals and tourist spending in Spain experienced significant growth in March, rounding off a historic first quarter for tourism,” according to the Ministry of Industry and Tourism.

In March, 6.3 million international tourists visited Spain, 21% more than in the third month of 2023, according to statistical research on the entry of foreign travelers (Frontur) and accompanying consumption (Egatur), which reveal that tourist consumption during this month is still breaks records once.

These foreign visitors brought 8,652 million euros, which represents a growth of 29.7% compared to March last year.

The UK was the main source of tourists to Spain last March, with more than 1.2 million visitors and an increase of 13.3% compared to 2023, followed by Germany with 909,031 tourists (an increase of 28.7%) and France 791,648 (increase from 2023 31.8%).

In the first quarter, the UK also led the way with almost 3 million, up 15.1%, followed by Germany (with almost 2.1 million, up 19.5%) and France (with almost 2 million, up 15 .7%) ).

During the first three months of 2024, the autonomous communities that received the most tourists are the Canary Islands (4.3 million and an increase of 14.3% compared to the same period in 2023), Catalonia (3.4 million and an increase of 20, 7%) ) and Andalusia (2.4 million, an increase of 18.7%).
