MIAMI | Not only did Donald Trump appear at the Miami Grand Prix and visit the McLaren paddocks and garage, he also returned to congratulate winner Lando Norris.

Before leaving the Miami International Autodrome, the former US president shook hands with the 24-year-old Briton. Accompanied by the president of the FIA, Emirati Mohammed Ben Sulayem, he also met three-time world champion Max Verstappen.

Asked about this at a press conference after the win, Norris looked down and let out a small laugh. The motif caused a slight discomfort and sowed silence in the cozy room.

“It’s an honor when someone like him takes the time to show you respect for what you do,” the young man who hadn’t met him before he left since he was busy with preparations.

“He told me he was my lucky charm because of my victory,” he added, not knowing if he would see him again one day.

– I met a lot of people this weekend. Donald is someone I have a lot of respect for, in many ways. When someone like him recognizes what you achieve, the effort you put in and the ethics you put into your work, you should be grateful.
