Draa-Tafilalet: mobile units to speed up the measles vaccination campaign

The Draa-Tafilalet Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection has mobilized mobile health units in five provinces in the region to speed up measles vaccinations as part of an expanded national campaign to strengthen vaccination against the disease.

“These mobile units have so far made more than 110 visits to municipalities in the provinces of Errachidia, Midelt, Tingir, Zagora and Ouarzazate, thus administering more than 1,440 doses of the vaccine,” said Mohamed Hessal, regional director of the Ministry of Health. and social protection in Draa-Tafilalet.

The official stressed that about 127 mobile health units have been mobilized in the region to facilitate the vaccination process, adding that “the establishment of these units in urban and rural areas is part of the action plan of the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection for the success of this campaign.”

This initiative, he continued, aims to call for vigilance and counteract the spread of the disease by completing measles vaccination protocols, pointing out that this campaign will ultimately vaccinate more than 17,000 children in the Draa-Tafilalet region.

He added that the regional department of health and social care encourages parents and guardians to check their children’s medical records to ensure the correct measles doses are administered.

The Department of Health and Social Care recently announced the launch of an extensive national campaign to strengthen measles vaccination, as part of its proactive policy to limit the spread of epidemics and strengthen the response.

The initiative aims to restore childhood vaccination rates to levels seen before the Covid-19 pandemic, which led to a drop in vaccination coverage rates in most regions and provinces of the Kingdom.
