Sony is abandoning its crazy nomenclatures

Sony announces marketing transition to 2024. No more complex names, give way to simplification.

When introducing new product lines, Sony took the opportunity to make some changes to the names of these products. In an article by the American publication Engadget, a Sony representative clarifies the company’s desire to make the brand more accessible by adopting more memorable names.

About ten days ago, Sony introduced two new lines of audio products. First of all, the ULT tower, ULT field and ULT are equipped with Bluetooth speakers. For the first time, the company presented products without the usual nomenclature consisting of letters and numbers, a little confusing, like the Sony WH-CH720N headphones (they probably meant the Wireless Headphone CH720N, which is hardly simpler). These new names are much clearer and, above all, memorable. Sony describes this line of audio systems as a “new stage of innovation” in its products.

More recently, Sony confirmed this commitment to renewal by announcing a new line of products, this time televisions. The new Bravia range offers three new TVs. Bravia 7, Bravia 8 and Bravia 9. Here we find two Mini-Led models, a new feature from the Japanese manufacturer, and an OLED model. The Bravia 9 TV aims to be high-end, with a new ‘Mini-LED’ panel that seems to work wonders. Combined with the new processor and ATMOS sound system, Integrated wants to make its new line a reference. While prices have yet to be announced, we can expect the Bravia 7 and 8 to be the more affordable models.
