Last week, Huawei unveiled its latest line of smartphones, the Pura 70. Officially launched in China, they will not be happy with their home market, as today the manufacturer announces their upcoming availability in Europe, and more specifically in France. If the brand is revising the range of its devices, then these are the heirs of the P line, which reached its peak even before 2019 and is focused on careful photographic equipment.

The Pura 70 series consists of three smartphones: the Pura 70 Pro and Pura 70 Ultra. It’s the latter that we can focus on most thanks to the innovative photo block stamped with X Mage, the name of the brand’s photography division. Its one-inch main sensor (50 MP, the part number of which Huawei does not specify) is actually accompanied by retractable optics – it is tested for 300,000 clicks – and a variable aperture (f / 1.6-f / 4), a technology that the manufacturer is one of the few to offers.

This main module is complemented by a second 50 MP sensor, surrounded by optics equivalent to 90 mm (f/2.1), used for zooming (x3.5) and macro photography from 5 cm. The third 40 MP module is equipped with ultra-wide-angle optics. The Pura 70 and 70 Pro are, of course, a little less well-endowed, but retain an f/1.4-f/4 variable aperture lens and a slightly smaller sensor in their 50-megapixel main module.

High Quality Positioning and Uncertainty

Overall, the three Pura 70s are very similar, featuring an Oled LTPO Full HD+ (460 pixels per inch) screen, promising a refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz and a brightness of 2,500 cd/m². All are IP68 certified and feature the brand’s Kulun screen protector (Glass 2 on the Pura 70 and 70 Pro and Crystal Armor, more resistant to drops and scratches, on the Pura 70 Ultra). In this article, we have detailed all the specifications of the Pura 70, 70 Pro and 70 Ultra, at least those that we know about. The brand, which is under close scrutiny by American authorities, has not yet revealed the name of the chip on which its trio runs: it is therefore impossible to confirm today whether they are compatible with 5G.

The only element we can confirm is that the Pura 70 series will not be released running Harmony OS, the brand’s own system that powers its watches and tablets, but rather running AOSP with the Emotion user interface, in version 14, still without Google services. . Huawei promises at least two years of software updates and three years of security updates, while reminding that this often goes far beyond the initial promise. We expect no less from smartphones that, as evidenced by their starting price, are set to take their place in the European premium device market following the changes that have taken place in China since the launch of the Mate 60 series: do the math 999. € for Pura 70 12/256 GB, 1199 euros for Pura 70 Pro 12/512 GB and 1499 euros for Pura 70 Ultra 16/512 GB. Everything will be available for pre-order from May 2nd with delivery. end of the same month.
