The vaccination campaign is planned to take place next week.

A new polio vaccination campaign will be launched across the country over four days, from 14 to 17 May. This is an initiative of the Ministry of Health aimed at eradicating this serious disease. The target of this fight is children under fifteen years of age. The Ministry intends to vaccinate 12,851,149 children under the age of fifteen across the island against polio. As the government has launched regular campaigns to combat the disease, good results have been recorded as “no new cases of polio have been reported in the last six months,” UNICEF said in a press release.

Polio is a serious infectious disease that can cause life-threatening paralysis. This is why it is extremely important to get vaccinated. The polio vaccine, also known as OPV, is recommended in the first months of a child’s life. It provides effective and long-lasting protection against this virus. In addition, this vaccine can be administered multiple times as it provides complete protection. As a reminder, this disease can affect a wide range of people, especially children under five years of age and especially those who are not up to date with vaccinations.

Therefore, it is critical to adhere to the recommended vaccination schedule to ensure adequate protection against this potentially devastating disease.
