Nairobi welcomes top leaders

African leaders will meet Monday April 29 in Nairobi at a summit of heads of state aimed at strengthening support for Africa’s economic development

This summit is jointly organized by the Government of the Republic of Kenya and the World Bank Group. In addition to Kenyan President William Ruto, World Bank President Ajay Banga and other top leaders will participate.

The International Development Association (IDA), the World Bank institution that helps the world’s poorest countries, will play a key role in this effort, helping to meet basic needs such as energy, health care and infrastructure, which are the cornerstones of development.

Leaders will consider how to maximize IDA’s impact as it replenishes its resources, ensuring IDA receives the support it needs to effectively foster major investments.

Coalition of Civil Society and Private Sector Leaders for Africa

To achieve a better future and to ensure the ambitious deployment of IDA’s resources to achieve it, a united front is needed. The summit will launch a powerful coalition of partners made up of civil society and private sector leaders, represented by Bridgewater Associates, Global Citizen, Jacobs Ladder Africa, One Campaign, among others. This expanded alliance reflects a collective commitment to the full realization of Africa’s ambitions.
