Since March 22, mobile teams from the Otaua Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSSO) have been traveling to various Otaua schools to vaccinate students against measles.
Medical consultant for infectious diseases at CISSSO Carol McConnery explained that teams will continue to vaccinate young people in the coming weeks:
Quebec’s National Institute of Public Health (INSPQ) has warned that measles is spreading in Quebec, with 16 cases already reported in Montreal, compared to five in several other regions of the province.
There are currently no confirmed cases of the disease in Otaouai. CISSSO says it expects about 85% of students to be vaccinated in schools and is focusing on prevention:
