JDA Dijon: a hard-earned victory against Le Portel, which secures maintenance

A narrow victory, hard to imagine, but oh so precious. On Wednesday 24 April 2024, JDA Dijon won against Le Portel, at home, for the 31st day of the championship. Final score: 92-80. With this success, Jeanne, worn (among others) by a Jacques Alingué of the great evenings, finally confirms its retention in the elite. Now it’s time for the Coupe de France final, Saturday, against Strasbourg – which can be seen in its entirety at France Bleu Bourgogne.

So many emotions!

JDA attacks hard, immediately aggressive on the rebound, and more wide in the game, like this counterattack and this interception by Jacques Alingué, who goes for a dunk (9-0, 3′). Le Portel catches up again (9-9). The rest was choppy but close, with many errors committed on both sides (19-21, 9′).

Le Portel starts its second quarter better. Laurent Legname is already asking for a time-out, a few seconds after taking a technical foul. (23-29, 12′). The opponent who takes off (25-34, 14′), before seeing Jeanne return (35-39, 17′). And came back strongly, going so far as to pass Le Portel at half-time, thanks to a hard-hitting 10-0 (49-41, 20′).

Balanced start to the third quarter. Ducoté shines, and causes a time-out for Portel (59-51, 26′). JDA relaxes and then sees the lead disappear (63-60, 29′). La Jeanne manages to keep Le Portel in check, but the mattress is thin (74-66). It increases for Jeanne, carried by Alingué, Holston, Caver and Hammonds (84-71, 38′). Le Portel comes back again, araped style (87-80, 40′). In the end, Jeanne, who took the advantage just before the break, logically won.

Jacques Alingué, Mr. 100%

What a performance from the inside Jeanne, Jacques Alingué, author of 17 points and seven rebounds! 100% on shots (7/7), 3/3 on free throws. “He was very, very good, I challenged him, regarding the fact that we had to find the real Jacques We know his qualities.”greets JDA Dijon coach, Laurent Legname.

The maintenance match. By winning this evening, JDA Dijon would (finally!) secure themselves in the elite. With three days to go, Jeanne would actually be three wins ahead of Roanne, first relegation, a team that Dijon has the goal average above.

Le Portel is better ranked. Before this meeting, Le Portel is in 6th place in ranking, with 16 wins for 14 losses. JDA is number 14, 12 wins and 18 losses. Le Portel have conceded just one defeat in their last five games, against leaders Monaco. La Jeanne, in turn, lost this weekend at Saint-Quentin.

Hope wins. JDA Dijon Espoirs beat them from Portel this afternoon, 79-66.
